On Thursday October 5th a prominent member of our community, Msgt Ben Santiago of the 116th ASOS was involved in a hit and run accident right next his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.  At around 7 pm Ben left his house on his motorized longboard to hit the corner store for some drinks.  On his way back as he was crossing an intersection an SUV struck him head on and drug him a number of yards.  They they reversed and fled the scene leaving Ben on the street.  A motorist eventually saw his body and called the authorities.  Ben sustained major head and brain trauma, a broken collar bone, a broken arm, massive lacerations to the leg and a broken hip.  He is scheduled for surgery to repair his arm on Tuesday.

Ben has recently left Active Guard status and began a GI Bill program to become an airline pilot. This accident will cause him to dis-enroll in school for a number of months to recover.  He will be out of work and out of school during this entire recovery.  If you are able to contribute to help Ben during his recovery his friend, family, and TACP community will be extremely thankful.
